Apart from being a VERY EFFICIENT heat source friction provides an EFFECTIVE SURFACE CLEANING action. Various foreign inclusions, surface oxides and absorbed films that oppose formation of bonds are destroyed & removed by abrasion produced by friction.  HENCE, THE WELD IS STRONGER.
