EDUCATE THE GIRL CHILD

Educate Girl Child, Create an Evolved Society

I have always believed that gender equality is the key to the development of any nation. It has been observed that, though the urban India is extremely proactive in terms of girl child birth and education, it still remains an area of concern in the rural interiors and among the low-income class population. Lack of awareness of development opportunities for girl child and financial burden are both observed to be the prime causes for this. With this information, we at FWT have decided to take up the challenge to provide equal educational and professional opportunities for girls as for the boys. The core purpose of this initiative is to encourage girl child education. It involves providing them with academic and social support to continue education thereby meeting challenges of society through their overall development. To that effect, FWT provides academic material and individual support to ensure overall development of the girl child of its blue collar employees.

Even if the employee leaves the organization, this support would continue until a girl child completes her education. If a child wants to pursue further education, the support continues to cover for her education, as long as she wants to study.

FWT continuously monitors the development of the child, interacts with teachers, provides necessary support in terms of tuitions, counselling, motivating, conducting half-yearly reviews, celebrating achievements, encouraging them to pursue a hobby of their choice, yoga, music, etc.

We have observed that even a little bit of motivation goes a long way in building overall personality of the individual. In case of our “Educate the Girl Child” initiative, we have experienced many such transformations since 2015. We have witnessed that their academic performance has sky-rocketed and they have grown remarkably more confident.

These girls are so excited about learning, acquiring practical skills, participating in academic as well as non-academic or extra-curricular activities, and they are as curious as us (in some cases even more).

This includes girls from the age of 6 years to 17 years.

One such case study is that of Mayuri Sambre. She has topped the merit list of Lokmanya Tilak Gunvatta Yadi. Further, she has bagged first prize in Tabla competition and is performing exceptionally well in Yoga too. Watching them shine fills our heart with joy. They deserve to shine.
