FSW Contract Welding Services with Advanced Friction Stir Welding Technology
Powered by MTI & STIRTEC
We Handle Your Needs For Feasibility Studies and Manufacturing
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state welding process that uses a rotating, non-consumable tool to generate frictional heat at the bond line between two materials, producing a strong, high-integrity joint without melting the base materials.
Our FSW contract welding services support R&D teams with state-of-the-art friction stir welding machines. From rapid prototyping to full-scale manufacturing, we deliver on time and to quality standards for FSW contract and subcontract welding needs.
Friction Stir Welding Services
As your Friction Stir Welding solutions provider, we deliver more than equipment for high-spec parts and production programs.
Reach Your Part Production Goal with FWT FSW Contract Welding
At FWT, we deliver Friction Stir Welding solutions that help you reduce downtime, overcome part challenges, and improve overall performance. Aside from contract welding, we also provide FSW subcontract welding services, including custom tooling, repairs, and part enhancements.
With FWT as your production partner, you ensure precision, consistency, and cost-efficiency across every phase of your project.
Cost Savings
Reduce cycle times and control expenses with FWT’s extensive experience in developing and producing high-quality welds. Our decades of welding service expertise, along with our partnership with STIRTEC, enable for faster ramp-ups and fewer revisions — saving time and driving down production costs.
Material Evaluations
Our in-house lab offers comprehensive metallurgical analysis to evaluate the weld zone, identify key material properties, and verify bonding integrity. Whether you’re joining aluminum extrusions or other complex materials, we provide the insights needed to qualify your application.
Custom Design Capabilities
Explore newly formed parts, complex extrusions, and advanced joint geometries through FWT’s FSW equipment and solid-state welding process. Our custom tooling and development expertise unlock your project’s potential by improving performance and opening opportunities for downstream savings.
Production Evaluation

Explore FSW Tool and
Material Selection
To achieve consistent, high-quality welds, it’s critical to select the right tooling, materials, and parameters for your specific application. FWT helps you make informed decisions by providing deep technical expertise and proven development support across industries.
Pre & Post-Weld Process
At FWT, our Friction Stir Welding services go far beyond the weld itself. As your one-stop solution for advanced joining needs, we manage the entire lifecycle of your project, from material preparation and fabrication to post-welding machining and quality verification.
Use FWT Friction Stir Welding Machines
FWT’s Friction Stir Welding (FSW) contract manufacturing services are built for both scalability and precision, with three machines available to support a wide range of part sizes and production needs. Our LS-1 machine is engineered for large-scale applications, capable of welding parts up to 55 feet in length. Equipped with a dual-head configuration, this machine enables simultaneous welding operations, accelerating production rates while maintaining consistent, high-quality results across long weld seams.
For smaller components, our PM-0 machine provides the flexibility and control needed for precision welding. This allows us to seamlessly support everything from prototype and low-volume runs to full-scale production, all within the same facility. Whether your project demands high throughput, tight tolerances, or a combination of both, FWT’s FSW contract welding capabilities are designed to deliver efficiency, reliability, and repeatable quality.
